Symposium Description:
This one-day session
will address the knowledge gap experienced by many PACS administrators
by introducing and exploring the blend of competencies required for
imaging informatics administration. This course is designed to assist
individuals who have interest or plan to take the Imaging Informatics
Professional (IIP) certification test.
It focuses on topics
included in the IIP Certification Test Content Outline (see
certification section of
www.siimweb.org) that are not covered in other sessions within the
SIIM 2007 Annual Meeting.
Each presentation
will direct participants to the following resources to assist in
preparation for taking the certification test:
• Recommended
sessions within the IIP educational track within SIIM University
relevant to the Test Content Outline (TCO);
• List of
publications dealing with the topic;
• List of
applicable websites that will provide greater detail
for study.
Target Audience:
Individuals who are
interested in pursuing professional certification and those who want to
learn more about the wide range of competencies and skills required for
this career.

The SIIM 2007 IIP
Roadmap focuses on topics and recommended sessions within the scientific
and educational track of the SIIM 2007 Annual Meeting that are of
special interest to imaging informatics professionals, explore imaging
informatics administration topics in greater depth, and highlight
content relevant to the certification test outline.
The
SIIM 2007 Imaging Informatics Professional Pre-conference Symposium is
independent of the Imaging Informatics (IIP) certification program, which requires a separate
application. The IIP certification program is governed by the American Board of
Imaging Informatics (ABII), an independent certifying body and
organization. ABII volunteers and staff are not involved in the
development of any educational, preparatory program. No preparatory
program is endorsed by ABII nor is a pre-requisite to earn the Certified
Imaging Informatics Professional (CIIP) designation.
ABII and its staff are solely responsible for the policies and
administration of the IIP program, including application deadline and
eligibility requirements. To learn more about the ABII IIP certification,
contact info@abii.org.
